1/10/2009:
On this date in 1951, it was reported that the Devils Lake firemen received a special delivery they did not expect.
Mike Eresman and Paul Ringstrom were driving a two-ton truck from the Seven-Up bottling Company back from Rolette when the back of their vehicle caught on fire.
They traveled on unaware, until suddenly they pulled up to a stop sign in Devils Lake, and a passerby shouted that their truck was on fire!
Eresman jumped out and ran to the fire hall for help, while Ringstrom drove the half-block to the station, where waiting firemen put out the flames.
Damages to the truck ran around $600, but for a while, it was the hottest brand of pop around!
