6/18/2011:
The first Presbyterian Church services in Kintyre were conducted in August 1905. Construction of a church building started in 1908, and it was dedicated in 1909 on Easter Sunday. And on this date in 1939, thirty years after its dedication, the church was alight both morning and afternoon with two wedding ceremonies—marking the first time anyone married there!
In the morning, local girl Dorothy Fallgatter became the first bride to walk down the aisle when she married Ray Miller of Bismarck. In the afternoon, another local girl, Elsie Kinonen, married John Kaiser of Napoleon.
Coincidentally, the parents of bride Dorothy Fallgatter were married 25 years before, and her aunt and uncle were married 12 years before—both on the same date.
