A Wedding Procession

11/17/2012:

After Mr. Curtis Dirlam and Miss Hulda Bergstrom exchanged vows in Bismarck on this date in 1920, they thought packing for their honeymoon marked the end of the celebration ... until they got to Curtis's driveway.

The couple found the Elk's band waiting at the Dirlam home. The band was missing just one member – Curtis Dirlam. His fellow bandmembers had conspired to provide a special send-off for one of their own.

The band paraded through Bismarck, leading the couple to the depot. They stopped at Broadway and Fourth and performed some tunes for the couple and the growing crowd. The wedding parade reached the Number 4 train just in time, and the Dirlams embarked with one last song filling the night air.
