Bismarck's Legacy High School begins this fall

Bismarck’s new high school will have students this fall, although not at its permanent location.

Tom Schmidt is the new principal at Legacy High School. He said this year’s freshman class will be using Bismarck State College Facilities.

“We will have classes pretty much all over BSC’s campus. We’ll have core classes at the Career Academy Building. We will have classes at the CT building across the street: music in BSC facilities, P.E. at Aquatic Center and lunch at the Gateway to Science Center,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt said the official Legacy High School building will be done by fall 2015.

Nadine Butts is the counselor at Legacy High School. She said current enrollment is at 256 students, although it is still fluctuating.

“The transition is going very smoothly, things are going very well. We’re ready and excited for our first group of students,” Butts said.

Butts said just freshman will be at the high school this year. The high school will have freshman and sophomores next year.
