Minot State University launches Workforce Development Campaign

Minot State University

Minot State University’s Career Center is launching what it’s calling “The 21st Century Workforce Development Campaign.”

"Everyone understands the concepts of a capital campaign" said MSU Vice-President for Student Affairs Kevin Harmon. "This is a human capital campaign."

Harmon said MSU is reaching out to community leaders and alumni.

"We're getting their services and resources in relationship to workforce development," Harmon said.

Harmon said the premise is to provide students meaningful opportunities. He says that will include internships, externships, job-shadowing, career exploration and mentoring, as well as other things.

"It sounds a bit cliche, but our students are tomorrow's leaders," Harmon said. "Why not engage them now, rather than waiting 10, 15, 20 years? Let's involve them now."

Harmon said the reaction from the Minot community has been extremely positive.

"The more experiences our students have, the better for them,' Harmon said.
