The North Dakota National Guard has placed a message on electronic billboards in North Dakota.
It simply says “We’re Hiring.”
"It's a way to get our names and faces back in the public, to let people know there are still positions available in the North Dakota Army National Guard," said Sgt. First Class Brett Gentile, a National Guard recruiter in Bismarck.
Gentile said there are openings in various areas with the Guard. He said in talking to a potential new recruit, one of the biggest selling points is money for college.
"I have somebody who is coming to me, who wants to go to college, and they're not sure how they're going to pay, or want to make that experience a little less expensive," Gentile said. "We have college benefits that are unbeatable."
Gentile said another subject for some recruits is leadership development. And he said many focus on vocational skills, that they can use to find a good job in the civilian market. Gentile said the Guard has something for just about everyone who's interested.
"Whether you're just coming out of high school, or you want a part time job, and maybe want to test yourself or push yourself a little bit, the Guard is really an amazing organization that offers so many different opportunities," Gentile said.
