State health department records five more COVID-19 deaths, 791 new cases

The death toll is now 1,796.

The state health department has confirmed five more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,796.

Deaths are reported to the state health department by facilities or by official death record, and can take up to ten days to be confirmed.

According to the state health department?s coronavirus dashboard, 791 individuals from 50 counties have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the new statewide positive total to 152,792.

These results were from a pool of 8,848 tests for a daily positive rate of 9.48 percent.

237 of those positives were PCR tests, and 554 were antigen tests.

2,741,645 total tests have been administered for the novel coronavirus. 534,563 unique individuals have been tested.

150 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Since yesterday 499 individuals have been confirmed as recovered, bringing the recovered total to 147,531. This leaves 3,455 active confirmed cases.
