"The Language Warrior's Manifesto" ~ Pandemic Report from New Orleans

Wednesday, April 1, 2020 - Anton Treuer has authored “The Language Warrior’s Manifesto, How to Keep Our Languages Alive No Matter the Odds.” Treuer is professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University, and he joins us to discuss the importance of revitalizing indigenous languages and cultures. ~~~ The most recent stimulus package passed by Congress included $9.5 billion for agricultural producers impacted by coronavirus. That includes farmers markets. With shelter-in-place orders occurring across the country, there have been runs on grocery store shelves, with basic food items sometimes hard to come by. People are still allowed to go to farmers markets and produce stands, but as Harvest Public Media’s Dana Cronin reports, farmers worry that those customers won’t return come harvest season. ~~~ Dennis Woltering is a retired television reporter and anchor who worked in North Dakota for several years.
