Lenz picks former State Rep. Ben Vig for Lt. Governor

Lenz campaign

Democratic Governor Candidate Shelley Lenz has chosen former State Rep. Ben Vig as her running mate.

Vig is from Sharon. He served in the North Dakota House in the 2007 and 2009 sessions.

"When I met Ben, I knew he was the perfect one," Lenz said. "He's a young family farmer, transitioning into the future."

Lenz said she was also impressed with his "deep knowledge" of the state.

"It's unmatched by even some of our fellows in the more golden years," Lenz said.

Vig said he was happy to be asked.

"When Dr. Shelley called, I was impressed by the new political energy she brings to this year's campaign." Vig said. "It's something I've not seen for a long time, and it's fun to see right now."

Vig was elected to the House in 2006, and served in the 2007 and 2009 sessions.

"I believe my experience in agriculture and energy will bring a full scope of understanding of the issues facing North Dakota," Vig said. "Together, we will work to transition to the future of North Dakota, and how we move forward."

Vig was endorsed by the party's executive committee.
