3/28/2010:
On this date in 1951, the Devils Lake World published a summary of a letter sent by Clarence A. Sagen, a former legislator out of Ramsey County, concerning his new life in Tacoma, Washington. The emphasis of this letter was on "life," as Sagen's wife had received a memorial resolution passed by the most recent North Dakota legislative assembly commemorating the deaths of past members of their body...his name among them.
So, to clear his name, he wrote to the editor: "Thank the Lord, I am still with you and in excellent health and spirits."
It seemed that one of his relatives in Edmore, Clarence S. Sagen, died at Devils Lake at the end of 1948, which led to the confusion.
