The state health department has confirmed one more death related to COVID-19, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,527.
Deaths are reported to the state health department by facilities or by official death record, and can take up to ten days to be confirmed.
According to the state health department’s coronavirus dashboard, 15 new individuals from ten counties have tested positive for COVID-19 in North Dakota, bringing the new statewide positive total to 110,614.
These results were from a pool of 2,440 tests for a daily positive rate of 0.96 percent.
Twelve of those positives eleven were PCR tests, and three were antigen tests.
One of the cases has been confirmed to be of the Delta variant, which has been proven to be more highly transmissible than previous strains of the virus. Disease control section chief Kirby Kruger says this variant is expected to become the dominate strain of COVID-19 in the United States, but current vaccines have proven to be effective against it. However, COVID-19 infection is not proving to protect against the variant.

2,060,498 total tests have been administered for the novel coronavirus. 445,499 unique individuals have been tested.
12 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Since yesterday 21 individuals have been confirmed as recovered, bringing the recovered total to 108,880. This leaves 184 active confirmed cases.
