ND Health Dept: 1 more death, 40 more cases of novel coronavirus

A woman in her 80s from Cass County has died with COVID-19 in North Dakota, bringing the statewide death toll to 54.

She had underlying health conditions.

Three counties reported 40 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus. 37 of the new cases were from Cass County. Grand Forks County had two new cases, and Ransom County had one new case. The positive cases were from a pool of 2,043 tests for a daily positive rate of 2 percent.

On Sunday, the state health department reported that 82 positive test results had to be labeled as inconclusive after the malfunction of some lab equipment. The malfunction has been corrected, and the individuals who tested positive are being retested. So far 23 of those retests have been completed; 22 of them tested negative and one tested positive.

There have been 2,457 positive results since the pandemic began.

There have been 84,503 total tests completed, with 66,350 completed on unique individuals.

There are currently 41 people hospitalized. There have been 154 hospitalizations over all.

1,551 people have recovered from COVID-19. This leaves 852 total active confirmed cases in the state.
